Paul Zeigler’s multifaceted career as a pianist, composer and teacher has taken him on performances throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.  Critics have been unanimous in their praise: absolutely thrilling…technically perfect, ,emotionally exciting, mind-expanding…a virtuoso performer.”

Zeigler’s brilliant performances keep him in demand as a soloist, lecturer and adjudicator.  His triumphant debut as soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.1 with New Jersey baroque Orchestra, Robert Butts, conductor, resulted in that group’s commitment to perform all five concertos of Beethoven with Zeigler as soloist.

In April 2002, Zeigler won the Kathryn G. Obenshain award for second place at the 22^nd Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiiev International Piano Competition and Festival, Radford University, VA.  Other honors include winning first place at The 1986 International Young keyboard Artists Competition and Festival,University of Michigan.  His monumental series of Beethoven sonata performances at Morristown United Methodist Church received critical acclaim in November 2000.  The Classical New Jersey Journal reported “…a lustrous vision…a brilliant concept…symphonic in dynamic range and scope…Zeigler plays with a lyric legato that should be the envy of many…[he] found all the fire and lyricism in the score.”

As composer-performer, Paul Zeigler’s works have been featured on radio, television and in major concert halls.  His March 20, 2004 concert of all original works in New York City was reviewed by John Hammel for WNTI Radio and described as: “…remarkable American composition…it is refreshing to encounter music that is so utterly accessible and imbued with a compelling joie de vivre at it’s core.  All of Mr. Zeigler’s compositions offered a full emotional and coloristic palette…Zeigler’s piano playing was masterful, with balance,,nuance, and expression.  Zeigler’s setting of three Emily Dickinson texts was quite simply exquisite.  The wedding of music and words was well nigh perfect…”   Zeigler’s most recent work, Peace;A Song Cycle on Five Poems by Langston Hughes, was a finalist in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Composition Competition Award 2008 and has won Honorable Mention.
