Honors Concert
History:
The first Honors Concert that I organized, in 2003, was done so to showcase, in
a
highly professional atmosphere, a few exceptionally
talented students who were deeply interested in serious music and performance.
I had spontaneously narrated that concert into a
sort of music history lesson.
The combination proved successful and a tradition
was born.
Each year the level of talent, and the level of
organization required to create the concert, has increased.
With this evolution it has become necessary to make
some clear guidelines for participation.
The Honors Concert is open to any of my students who are able to demonstrate exceptional talent and abilities.
Students must display, to my satisfaction, a deep interest in the pursuit of serious music and a strong desire to perform.
Students should have won some type of honor in a
high level competition. (Music Educators Association,
