Alex Tuchman, a native of Florham Park, New Jersey began playing
the piano when he was six years old. At eleven, he placed third at the
2003 Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition held
at Radford University in Virginia and was a finalist in the 2003 Princeton

“Most Distinguished Musicians” for his performances
in both the IBLA Grand International Music and

Competitions held in Ragusa-Ibla, Sicily.
When Alex was nine years old, he began studying
the piano with Paul Zeigler, a pianist, composer
and teacher, in Madison, New Jersey who says that
“Alex is quite simply one of the most gifted students
I have ever had the pleasure to work with in thirty
years of teaching.”
With Mr. Zeigler’s encouragement, this past September,
at age 13, Alex matriculated at the Preparatory Division
of the Mannes College of Music in New York City where
he is now studying the piano with Irina Edelman.
As one of the IBLA Grand Prize winners, Alex performed
at New York University, Casa Italiana Zerilli Marim on
